Side is a resort town in Manavgat district of Antalya province. The name of the town derives from Anatolian “pomegranateâ€, which is a symbol of prosperity and wealth. Some archeological finds show that the history of this town dates back to Hittites Empire period. Being one of the oldest settlement in Anatolia, Side was supposedly founded before the 7th century BC. As many other towns and settlements of Pamphylia, Side lived through the same epochs of Anatolian history.
